Finally, remember to transfer your bank accounts, update your assurances and subscriptions, find out about the place you are moving to through the specialist department in the Mairie (Town Hall). |
To avoid unnecessary stress, take advantage of your move to :
 |
- Sort out those objects which are not included in the move.
- Do not include in the move any inflammable or corrosive objects or liquids which have been partially used and not tightly sealed.
|
Organize for your children and animals to be looked after on the day of your move and prepare the layout plan for your new home.
The day before the move, don't forget to defrost your fridges and freezers, drain petrol from garden tools, other tools and motorcycles etc., collect together all your official documents and objects of value which should travel separately from the main move and put to one side any objects which will be useful on the day of the move or upon arrival at your new home (medicines, first aid kits, etc.).
On the day of the move, go round your old home with the team leader to check that nothing has been forgotten and shut off gas, electricity and water supplies.
Job done – all you need to do now is plan your house warming party !
